SPRINGFIELD State Senator Deanna Demuzio (D Carlinville) hosted a gathering of government officials and business owners at her home in Carlinville recently that provided an opportunity for discussion of the current economic climate not only in the county, but also nationwide.

The Macoupin Economic Development Partnership, a consortium of area communities, a college and several businesses was formed in March of 2009 as a result of leadership from the Macoupin County Board and the cities of Carlinville and Staunton. Currently, the partnership is comprised of the Macoupin County Board, the cities of Bunker Hill, Carlinville, Gillespie, Staunton, Mt. Olive and Modesto, along with members of the business community.

 SPRINGFIELD – State Senator Deanna Demuzio (D – Carlinville) is urging residents to look into their eligibility for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program, or LIHEAP.  The program is designed to help low income residents with their heating bills through the cold winter months.

The legislation would help these schools maintain the full amount of state funds should an outbreak occur.

SPRINGFIELD - State Senator Deanna Demuzio (D-Carlinville) has announced the recent approval by Governor Pat Quinn of a bill to allow the Illinois Department of Public Health to create the Colorectal Cancer Screening and Treatment Pilot Program. The legislation, an effort between Senator Demuzio and the American Cancer Society, allows the Department to make grants to eligible entities in order to carrying out the Program.

SPRINGFIELD – State Senator Deanna Demuzio (D-Carlinville) is pleased with Governor Pat Quinn’s approval of the statewide capital infrastructure improvement plan. After a comprehensive search of the projects list, she is anticipating a boost in employment in the near future for the 49th Legislative District.

“With the number of projects coming to the counties and municipalities of the 49th District, we are hoping to see an increase in employment numbers for the district. This is important, especially when you consider that some of our counties have very high unemployment rates,” Senator Demuzio said.

SPRINGFIELD – State Senator Deanna Demuzio (D-Carlinville) is pleased with a decision by the Governor’s office to keep the Pere Marquette Illinois Youth Center in Grafton operating. Following a meeting of the Commission on Government Forecasting and Accountability held at the State Capitol in Springfield, Senator Demuzio acknowledged the hard work of the residents of Jersey County for their help in keeping the facility open.
