Senator Schoenberg, Attorney General Madigan to Host Consumer Fraud Protection Workshop for Senior Citizens

altAssistant Majority Leader Jeff Schoenberg (D-Evanston) will host a free educational workshop next week on protecting seniors from consumer fraud with Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan.  

Senator Schoenberg will join seniors on Wednesday, November 16 from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. at the Glenview Park District Senior Center, located at 2400 Chestnut Avenue in Glenview, to introduce help that is available for older adults facing tough economic times. Attorney General Madigan will present “Silver Beat” training in which seniors can learn how to protect themselves from consumer fraud, identity theft, reverse mortgages, and counterfeit check scams. This training will give seniors and caregivers knowledge and tools needed to recognize and avoid scam artists and deceptive business practices.
