"For many Illinois households, energy costs place a severe and continuing stress on the family's budget," said Munoz. "In some instances people are forced to make painful decisions regarding which bills to pay and which necessities to survive without. This program is designed to help eligible low-income households pay for energy services during the coldest months of the year." Customers must have proof of income, a copy of their utility bill and social security numbers for everyone in the household. In addition, they may be eligible for a grant if their income is 150% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines.
