Munoz honors fallen officers at memorial service

State Senator Tony Munoz (D-Chicago) attended the Illinois State Police Officers Memorial Ceremony in Springfield recently. He stated, "This ceremony is to commemorate our fallen officers, but it is also a time to reflect on our brethren who continue to serve with honor, bravery and distinction, and I want to thank you for the risks you take every day to protect us."

The Illinois Police Officers Memorial Committee was established in 1985. The monument in Springfield honors fallen Illinois Police Officers and bears the names of all who have made the ultimate sacrifice while serving their communities. Every year on the first Thursday of May, a ceremony pays tribute to fallen officers and their families.
