Eric Zorn, a Chicago Tribune columnist, moderated the discussion and panel. This year's panel included: State Senator Kimberly Lightford, State Senator Kirk Dillard, Executive Director to the Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy, Matt Gardner, Crain’s Chicago Business columnist, Greg Hinz and Secretary to the Illinois Department of Human Resources, Michelle Saddler. A keynote address was given by Illinois Senate President John Cullerton. "Taking part in discussion and debate plays a key role in policy making," Senator Mulroe said. "Events like this symposium help us all to be more knowledgeable about the State's budget and the steps which are necessary to restore the fiscal health of our state."
