What: "Uplift Our Future": State Sen. Kimberly A. Lightford’s 2010 Back to School Celebration. The first 500 people to arrive for the event will receive free admission to Brookfield Zoo, free parking, free lunch, and free school supplies.

South Gate, near the Discovery Center, with free parking near the Discovery Center
When: Saturday, August 14, 2010, 9 AM-1 PM
Event registration: 9-10 AM
Free lunch and school supply give-away: 12 Noon
Why: Sen. Lightford wants to emphasize that education is the key to success with a fun education-themed event for children, especially for families who struggle to afford school supplies and other opportunities.
Additional Information: Children are highly encouraged to attend, but anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
