State Senator Toi Hutchinson (D-Olympia Fields) recently met with students from Manteno Elementary School visiting the Illinois Capitol as part of Tech Day 2011. Tech Day allows students and their instructors from across the State to showcase how technology is expanding classroom learning, preparing students for 21st century jobs that require extensive use of technology.

"It was great to see all of the students from across the State participating in Tech Day," Hutchinson said. "Technology has and is continuing to change the way we educate our children. As legislators, it is important to see how technology is playing in the everyday instruction and retention of vital information. I applaud all of the students, especially Morgan and Caleb from Manteo Elementary School, for all of their hard work and dedication."

Tech 2011 is presented by the Illinois Computing Educators (ICE) and is a not-for-profit initiative that has allowed students to showcase their use of technology to legislators since 1990. Students Caleb Boudreau and Morgan Meaney from Manteno Elementary School presented the utilization of the ‘Green Screen’, which allows students to utilize technology to bring lessons to life, presenting a visual impression of being involved in the actual subject.
