Frerichs resolution recognizes importance of agriculture communications in Illinois

frerichs-75x75SPRINGFIELD, IL– A resolution sponsored by State Senator Michael Frerichs (D – Champaign) designating February 17, 2012 as Agricultural Communications Day in Illinois passed the Senate Agriculture Committee today.

In 1961, the major of Agricultural Communications was created by the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The program continued to develop at the university and eventually led to seven new agricultural communications courses being added to the curriculum in the 1970s.

Frerichs bill would end general assembly scholarships

I believe the program is beyond reform and I know that many of my colleagues feel the same.  We would prefer to just see the program eliminated.

Frerichs encourages state to commemorate the Morrill Act

frerichs-75x75SPRINGFIELD, IL – In an effort to celebrate Illinois' role in agricultural and technological advancements over the last 150 years, State Senator Michael Frerichs (D – Champaign) recently introduced a senate resolution recognizing the importance of the Morrill Land Grant College Act of 1862.

Senator Frerichs Awaiting Answers on Health Alliance Contract Many Questions, Few Answers at Governor’s Legislative Briefing

SPRINGFIELD, IL Frustration surrounding a lack of information on the recent decision to end the State’s contract with Health Alliance continued today at a legislative briefing hosted by the Governor’s Office. State Senator Michael Frerichs (D Champaign) attended the briefing, but his questions were not answered.

Senator Frerichs Legislation Would Institute Safe Framework for Hydraulic Fracturing

SPRINGFIELD, IL A measure passed by State Senator Michael Frerichs (D Champaign) would put the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (DNR) in charge of overseeing hydraulic fracturing. If signed into law, Senate Bill 664 would move Illinois one step closer to safely implementing the practice known as "fracking".

Senator Frerichs Brings Added Transparency to Budget Process Frerichs’ measure would add additional time to review the use of taxpayer dollars

SPRINGFIELD, IL Last Friday, the Illinois Senate unanimously passed State Senator Michael Frerichs’ (D Champaign) Senate Bill 2232, the Taxpayer Transparency Act. The Taxpayer Transparency Act requires all bills making appropriations with taxpayer dollars be conveniently available to the public for at least 4 days on the General Assembly website before final legislative action.
