Delgado Announces Democratic Caucus Job Creation Plan

SPRINGFIELD, IL—Illinois State Senator William Delgado (D-Chicago) stood beside his colleagues today as the Senate Democratic Caucus proposed their economic plan that will create jobs and put people back to work.

“This is a process that began last year with the passage of the first capital bill in ten years,” Senator Delgado said.  “Our caucus has continued this commitment to stimulating the economy by putting measures in place to not only to those looking for work but for companies who hire employees during this economic downturn.”

Other measures passed last year included homeowner protections, expanding tax credits that led to hundreds of new jobs, efforts to combat government waste and creating better budget transparency and accountability.  In addition, we were able to put $31 billion towards a statewide construction plan that repaired and modernized Illinois’ outdated infrastructure.

“This plan will also take into consideration the importance of protecting the pocketbooks of Illinois residents by curtailing state spending and providing greater oversight in the process,” Senator Delgado said.  “I want to ensure everyone that taxpayer dollars are precious and that waste, fraud, and abuse will be cut from the state budget before we raise taxes of the hard working people of Illinois.”
