Senator Delgado appointed to the Human Services Commission Advisory Panel

SPRINGFIELD, IL—Illinois State Senator William Delgado (D-Chicago) has been appointed as a member of the Human Services Commission Advisory Panel.  The new Commission will make recommendations to the Governor and General Assembly in an effort to provide high quality human services to Illinois citizens.

“I am honored to have been appointed to this commission by the Senate President,” Senator Delgado said.  “As Chairman of the Illinois Senate Public Health Committee, I have always focused on ways to make these services more accessible to those in need of them. Being a member of this commission will allow me to ensure that our State is providing high-quality, efficient and effective services to everyone throughout the state.”

The Commission will address issues such as the process for determining fair, adequate and timely reimbursements to service providers, as well as ensuring the efficient management of publicly-funded programs and services.  In addition, the Commission will consider the future needs of the human services industry in Illinois.  Those appointed will be comprised of members with expertise in both public and private sectors of our health care system.

The Commission will submit an initial report on its progress and objectives to the Governor and the General Assembly by June 30, 2010. The Commission will then submit interim reports on November 30, 2010 and April 30, 2011, and a final report outlining its findings and recommendations no later than November 22, 2011.
