delgado75x75SPRINGFIELD, IL – State Senator William Delgado (D–Chicago) is congratulating teachers throughout the 2nd Legislative District who have achieved their National Board Certification. This honor is accomplished through a rigorous, performance-based assessment which takes them one-three years to complete.

"The goal of the National Board Resource Center's goal is to ensure that every student has great teachers," stated Senator Delgado.

This year, Illinois ranked third nationwide with the number of teachers achieving board certification. National Board Certification is recognized as a model for identifying accomplished teaching practices and is supported by teachers and administrators nationwide.

"National Board Certified Teachers have demonstrated advanced teaching knowledge, skills and practices," Senator Delgado said. "Completion of this process signifies that the teachers have developed and demonstrated the skills required to be a true education professional."

The National Board Resource Center at Illinois State University was established by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards in 1999 as one of five centers charged with advancing teacher quality and student learning through National Board Certification.
