SPRINGFIELD, IL – State Senator William Delgado (D–Chicago) voted with his colleagues on a bi-partisan measure to ensure that mental health services are not cut throughout the State
"This supplemental appropriations measure will ensure that not only will mental health grants continue to be funded, but violence prevention services are not cut either," stated Senator Delgado, Chairman of the Senate Public Health Committee. "I have always fought to ensure that Illinois funds mental health services, and by voting for this bill I am continuing my dedication to fighting for those who need these services."
In addition to funding for mental health grants through the Department of Human Services and Department of Public Health, Senate Bill 2412 will also ensure that the state indigent funerals and burial program remains funded.
Also, this supplemental appropriations legislation will provide $28 million in addition funding for programs that fight domestic and sexual abuse, and will provide nearly $5 million for homeless services
"By passing this legislation we are assuring that agencies and service providers will be able to make payroll, fund operations and prevent closures for the remainder of the fiscal year," Senator Delgado stated.
