"I am honored to participate in the First Annual Prosser Academy Unity Walk and Rally," stated Senator Delgado, Chairman of the Senate Public Health Committee. "This walk is a pledge by participants to help make and keep the community free of racism, prejudice, discrimination, and hate crimes." Over the past eight years, Prosser Career Academy has been a part of the Chicago Commission on Human Relations Annual Unity Walk and Rally. This purpose of this walk is to highlight the different ethnic and cultural heritages within the Academy. This is a way for the school and the community to help fight intolerance. Last year over 750 students, teachers and family members participated in the event. This year Prosser is sponsoring its own event to create Unity throughout the community. "Prosser is committed to extending the world and creating unity in our community through service and leadership - the Unity Walk is a galvanizing event for our school and a sign to the city of our commitment to creating real peace in our neighborhoods," stated Principal Kenneth Hunter. "Senator Delgado has been a key participant in helping us achieving our goals at Prosser Career Academy and we look forward to his participation in the Unity Walk and Rally." The Unity Walk and Rally will kick off at 9:00 A.M. on October 1, 2011 at the Hanson Stadium. This will be followed by a one mile walk around the Prosser Community. After the walk, participants may take part in a number of activities designed to build community, peace and harmony.
