Crotty: Senate Passes Capital Plan

Springfield, IL - State Senator Maggie Crotty (D-Oak Forest) voted today for legislation that will provide for the first Capital Plan in over ten years.

“I am proud to announce that we are going to be able to provide for school construction, road improvements and the funding of health care centers throughout the 19TH Legislative District,” said Senator Crotty. Capital projects in the district will not only provide for additional jobs, but also helps improve our local economy. “Local projects include bridge repairs and replacements, as well as local road improvements and lane expansions,” said Crotty. “In addition, public transportation including PACE and METRA will see an increase in their funding.”

Schools will also see funds to not only maintain but also build additional facilities.

In addition to these projects, starting this year a Capital Fund will be created that will allow for capital programs to be continuous so we won’t have to wait for a Capital Bill to be put together every year as we have experienced the last ten years.

This legislation has passed the Senate and now moves to the Illinois House of Representatives for their consideration.
