SPRINGFIELD, IL –State Senator Maggie Crotty (D – Oak Forest) is urging members of the public to donate needed items to a local organization that works to provide emergency shelter and other essentials for individuals and families victimized by domestic violence.
The Crisis Center of South Suburbia, located in Tinley Park, has provided emergency services to domestic violence victims since 1976. The Center provides housing, food and hygiene products to families in need.
“If ever there was a good cause, it is the mission of the Crisis Center of South Suburbia. By supplying the necessities of life to families who are in dire need, the Crisis Center is helping to get families out of bad situations, while also providing the support to continue with everyday activities, such as school and work,” Senator Crotty said.
The Crisis Center will accept donations of any kind, but they are specifically looking for:
• Healthy kid lunch snacks
• Juice boxes
• Fruit snacks
• Granola bars
• Bath towels
• Hand towels
• Wash cloths
• Extra long twin sheets sets
• Twin blankets
• New pillows
• Pillow protectors
• Baby wash
• Baby lotion
• Baby powder
“With the beginning of the school year, families helped by the Crisis Center are in greater need than many other times of the year. I encourage those who can to give to this great organization,” Senator Crotty said.
Donations may be dropped off at Senator Crotty’s District Office, located at 5119 West 159th Street, 1st Floor East in Oak Forest from October 3rd through October 17th during regular office hours (8:30 AM to 4:30 PM).
