Clayborne Announces New Road Projects to Begin Soon

SPRINGFIELD, IL Senator James Clayborne (D-Belleville) announced this week that work will soon begin on new road projects in the 57th Legislative District. The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) recently released a list of projects throughout the State that were bid on and awarded out to contractors. This work will bring over $636 thousand to St. Clair County.

"These are all projects that need to be attended to, so it thrills me that IDOT has awarded the contractors the opportunity to begin on these jobs," Senator Clayborne said. "Rejuvenating and repairing our roads is something we must make a priority in our communities, to ensure the safe travel of the people who live here."

Projects:

$489,493 for widening pavement, installing storm sewers, combination curb and gutters, sidewalks and the instillation of a flashing beacon light on Fullerton Road, from IL 159 to the Metro-Link crossing in Swansea.

$146,652 for crack and joint seal along nearly 8 miles of I-64 from IL 157 to Green Mount Road.

The projects are expected to begin in the spring.
