Senator Clayborne has been a long-time supporter of initiatives that promote guidance and opportunities for youth within his community, and Illinois. According to the YMCA, Senator Clayborne has proven his loyalty and dedication year after year by providing support for education grants and initiatives that foster growth for youth in the metro east. "I feel honored that an organization such as the Y is choosing to recognize the work that I do," Senator Clayborne said. "It’s groups like theirs that help to mentor and teach our children how to best contribute to their society now, and how to become a successful member of their community in the future." 
Springfield, IL— Last week, Senator James Clayborne (D-Belleville) received the 2011 YMCA Legislative Hero Award, as a symbol of gratitude for his years of dedication to the YMCA, local youth and teens, and to his community.
