Springfield, IL - On Inauguration Day, January 14, 2009, Illinois lawmakers began their work to tackle some of the most historic challenges the state has ever faced.
In the Senate, legislators convened an unprecedented tribunal that ultimately led to the removal of the state’s Governor. As the session moved forward, Senate Democrats led the way for comprehensive government reform, a $30 billion job-creating capital investment program and a responsible balanced budget plan.
