When I was first elected to the General Assembly, much of my communication to constituents was done through the mail and, when time permitted, on the telephone.  And, while today – three decades later – the commitment to provide the public with communication and information about the work of state government hasn’t changed, how we communicate is vastly different. As President of the Illinois Senate and leader of the Democratic Caucus, it is important to me that our caucus is making the effort to live up to the ever-changing way the public gets information.  That’s why I’m pleased to welcome you to our new website. 

From here, it is our hope that you will be able to see the work that Senate Democrats are doing to serve the state during these challenging times.  Already this year our caucus has addressed some of Illinois’ most pressing problems.  If you haven’t already, take a look at our photo essay highlighting the work we have done and our pledge to continue the effort to lead with responsibility.

Like most, our website is very much a work in progress.  In the days ahead, we will be adding new features and highlighting important issues that affect the lives of millions of Illinois families.  It is my hope that this website will provide you with important information and, from time to time, give you a unique perspective of the 37 diverse members of our caucus.
