Last week, Illinois Senate President John Cullerton came to the stage of Chicago Live to give political columnist Rick Pearson a roundup of major issues that legislators will be addressing during the two-week 2011 veto session.
While there is no shortage of issues that before the General Assembly, Cullerton focused his remarks on three items slated for debate:
- Legislation to incorporate the changes Governor Pat Quinn wishes to see in the casino and gaming proposal passed by the General Assembly earlier this year;
- A reworking of utility upgrades to Illinois’ electric grid system, ensuring greater consumer protections; and
- A law allowing speed enforcement cameras around Chicago schools.
