While Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker was busy spinning tales of how his policies had turned around his state’s fiscal situation to the Illinois Chamber last week, Bloomberg’s Economic Evaluation of States index was analyzing personal income, tax revenue and employment and finding Illinois near the top and Wisconsin near the bottom in the US.
Bloomberg’s index also measures home prices, mortgage delinquency rates and state-headquartered corporations’ equity performance. Walker is currently facing a June 5 recall election, prompted by 1.1 million Wisconsin voters’ signatures on petitions for his recall after he stripped collective bargaining rights from public workers.
